Affiliate disclosure

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an ordinary link to a store with a tracking code added. If you click it and then buy something, the store can see that you came from us and may pay us a small share of the sale.

The link takes you to the same product page as any other link, and you don't have to use our links at all: you can search for any item yourself.

You pay no extra

Any commission comes out of the store's side of the sale. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or not.

How we pick items

We choose every item for guests and the hosts who look after them: size, durability, how easy it is to clean, assembly time and how it looks in listing photos. Whether a store pays a commission plays no part in what we list.

• IKEA pays us nothing, and we still list it whenever it's the better pick.
• If a store that pays a commission has a worse option, we list the better one anyway, even when it earns us nothing.

Which programs we're in

Applications in progress; this page will list approved programs.

Until a program approves us, every store link on our pages is a plain link with no tracking code.

Where affiliate links can appear

Only on our website: the free list and the online store list for kit buyers. Every page with store links shows a short notice above the first link, pointing here.

The kit's PDF guide and planner spreadsheet have no affiliate links: store links for every item are on a private online list, by ID, that buyers get with the kit.

Prices

We never show prices for Amazon items on our pages. Amazon allows only prices that come straight from its own tools, and store prices change often, so check the current price on the store's page before you buy.

The kit's budgets (about $3,500, $6,000 and $9,000 for a whole 1-bedroom) are design targets, not store prices.
